The Run to End Poverty was born in 2007, when an Engineers Without Borders (EWB) volunteer in Ghana,West Africa, and three EWB chapters in Montreal created a truly ‘international’ half-marathon event. Simultaneous runs were held in Montreal, Quebec and Tamale, Ghana to raise awareness about extreme poverty in Africa and to promote EWB’s capacity-building efforts in its partner organizations and communities overseas.
Since then, the Run to End Poverty has grown and evolved.Teams now train and race in eight cities across Canada, and our African Connections are now linked to specific EWB projects creating positive change and opportunity for those hit hardest by poverty.
Join the team today and help us take strides towards ending extreme poverty in Africa!
